My 2006 by Pamela & Elvis
Our Year started out
quiet; our 1st show wasn’t until May when we attended SKC at Ingliston. We only managed a VHC (5th) out of an
entry of 6 but Elvis really behaved himself & moved well, so I wasn’t at
all disappointed. Ingliston is our “Local” show so we
always enjoy it even if we don’t do well.
June was a very busy
month in the Show World for Elvis & I. 1st we travelled down to"
the bowls of England." For The Large Munsterlander
Club Championship Show. Maureen & I set off on the Friday for the
Show on Saturday 3rd June. It was a scorching hot day &
unfortunately there was not much natural shade for the dogs. Anyhow, it was
still a great day, Elvis & I won the Post Graduate Dog class from an entry
of 8. Elvis wasn’t very well behaved during the class so I was completely gobsmacked when we were selected in 1st place.
Next was Dundee
Premier Open show on Saturday 10th June, this was held in Camperdown Park in Dundee, it’s a fantastic venue &
it’s only a 1 ½ hours drive so again it’s pretty “Local” for us. A lot of us
“Scottish Munsters” turned out for the show,
including The Oldest Showgirl I know, Kelsey (Sh Ch Jaggereh Moonshine). Elvis & I had another super day,
winning the Post Graduate Dog/Bitch class out of an entry of 5. After the show
we played around in the Park for a couple of hours, it was a real family affair
with Brothers, Sisters, Mums, Dads, Cousins &
Puppies all enjoying catching up & messing around.

The following Weekend
was jam- packed again, with the Large Munsterlander
Clubs Annual Scottish Natural Apptitude Test being
held at Kelso on
The image below is part of a slide show please wait for it to start!!
Sunday 18th June was Border Union Championship Show, unfortunately the weather took a turn
for the worse & it poured with rain ALL day. This didn’t put us Munster
Folk off though, while many other breeds took shelter in the undercover rings
we stood firm, braving the rain to be judged outside. This was another
successful day with Elvis & I taking 1st in Post Graduate Dog out of an entry of 6.
By this point I was
just about on the Ceiling, Elvis & I were having a great run & with
only 1 more Champ Show to attend in June I really thought it could all come to
an end at any moment:
Elvis & I had a
break from Showing in July, instead we spent lots of time out & about on
walks & going swimming. Near to where we live is the River Clyde &
Clyde-walkway, both excellent places for running the dogs. We often go out with
Maureen & her troop & this year with Carol & Colin & their
little

August brought only 1
show for Elvis & I. That was SKC, held again at Ingliston.
This generally tends to be a lower entry than the 1 in May so there were only 3
dogs entered in the Post Graduate Class. Elvis was placed 3rd out of
3. I was a little disappointed as I thought he showed well, but “You Can’t Win
‘Em All!!” as they say. It was still a nice day out
with all the dogs getting a good run after the show.
With the summer nearly
over, things in the show circuit began to slow down, 1 show in September (
October we went to
Midland Counties Championship Show. We had a really good entry at this show of
59. I decided to put Elvis into the Limit Dog class, just to see how he would
fair in beside the Big Boys. Sadly out of an entry of 7, we never got placed. I
was glad I had entered that class though as it showed me that perhaps my boy
isn’t quite ready to move up a level, which, being only 3 years old isn’t a
problem. We are more than happy to hang around in Post Graduate for another
season.
We had 1 little show
in November, back to Ingliston again for Gundog
Breeds of Scotland Championship Show. There are No CCs on offer for
Munsterlanders at this show, but it is 1 of my favourites. It’s always a really
fun & friendly day out & it’s a great way to catch up with All the
Scottish

There were 2 Open
Shows in December that Elvis & I should have entered but I decided we had
done enough this year & to have a break from it. Instead we spent lots of
time with our Munster Friends going on nice walks & generally relaxing.
The Final Event of
2006 was our Munster Bash at

All in all Elvis &
I have had a Brilliant 2006, both in the Showring
& at home. Roll On 2007 so we can start it all over again……………..
